Warli painting is one those handy arts, and origin of painting in india. The Warlis are Adivasis, living in mountainous and coastal areas of Maharashtra-Gujarat border and surrounding region. They have their own Adherent beliefs, life, customs and traditions as a result of civilization they have adopted many Hindu beliefs. The Warlis speaks an unwritten Varli language which belongs to the southern zone of the Indo-Aryan language.
Basically, this art includes square, circles, triangles, lines in a very naturally attractive manner. This extremely rudimentary wall paintings use a very basic graphic vocabulary: a circle, a triangle and a square. The circles and triangles resembles something in nature & the circle representing the sun and the moon, the triangle derived from mountains and pointed trees. Only the square seems to obey a different logic and seems to be a human invention, indicating a sacred enclosure or a piece of land. And that differs in each painting being made; They gives out the fragrance of sacred land of arts.
