Description: Madhubani Painting also known as Mithila Painting is the most unique form of Indian Art which is dipped in Indian culture. This form of art was started by Mahasundari Devi of Madhubani district, Bihar. For this she has been awarded National award from President, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy in 1982. Devi was considered a “living legend” of the art of painting. She also received the Padma Shree award from the government of India, in 2011 for her famous Madhubani paintings. . The paints which is used in this painting is all natural and organic, it is formed out of leaves, twigs and natural dyes and pigments of plants and trees. And painting is done by nib pen, matchsticks and fingers. This painting is done on silk cloth and handmade paper. The painting depicts “rasleela of Krishna” and how rich our Indian culture is in rural corners of the country. Madhubani Painting is basically practiced in Mithila Region but now it is gaining popularity in foreign countries like USA, UK, Australia and Russia.
