A brand that began its journey 200 years back in 1761 with a lady named Marie Grosholtz. Marie’s mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Phillipe Curtius in Bern, Switzerland, who was a physician skilled in wax modeling. It was he who taught Marie the art. As he moved to Paris he took his young apprentice along, she was just 6 years old back then.
It was in 1777 that Marie created her first wax sculpture and further there was nothing that could stop her to make magnificent and perfect wax statues of various famous personalities. After she inherited Dr. Curtius’s vast collection of wax models she married Francois Tussaud in 1795 and hence the exhibition of her wax sculptures came to be known as ‘Madame Tussauds’.
Her museums are now spread all over the globe in all the major continents including Europe, North America, Australia and Asia.
Madame Tussauds Museum has come to India and will be open to the public from 1st December’17 making this the most awaited event in Delhi.
